Paddleboard by boat to icebergs/Whales!

Paddleboarding Among Icebergs and Whales — Ilulissat

Experience the Arctic from the water on this unforgettable paddleboard adventure among towering icebergs — with a chance of encountering humpback whales in their natural habitat.

🚩 Meeting Point – Our Garage, Ilulissat
We begin at our garage in Ilulissat, where all equipment is stored. Here you’ll get fully equipped with paddleboard gear and drysuits, followed by a safety briefing and introduction to the tour.

🚌 Transfer to the Harbor
From the garage, we take a short bus ride to the harbor, where our boat awaits.

🚤 Boat Transfer to the Paddle Area
We head out by boat to carefully selected areas with stunning icebergs — and often whales. Safety, weather conditions, and respect for wildlife always come first.

🏄 Paddleboarding Experience (from the boat)
Once we find the right location, we launch the paddleboards directly from the boat and paddle among the icebergs in calm Arctic waters. If whales are present, we keep a respectful distance and observe them from the board. Sometimes humpback whales approach out of curiosity — always on their own terms.

🐋 Expert Whale Knowledge
The tour is led by Morgan Angaju, co-owner of Whales of Greenland, who has specialized training and hands-on experience from the Kingdom of Tonga. There, he studied and learned how to swim with and responsibly interact around humpback whales, gaining deep insight into their behavior — knowledge he now applies in the Arctic with the highest respect for the animals.

Break with Warm Drinks & Snacks
Along the way, we enjoy a relaxing break with warm drinks and snacks, surrounded by ice, sea, and silence.

🌍 Whale-Safe & Locally Guided
We are trained in operating around humpback whales and icebergs, and respect for wildlife and nature is at the core of everything we do.
